The Traveling Methodists are off again on another trip! We are going to see the Oberammergau Passion Play, presented for the world every ten years in Bavaria, Germany. The trip will be June 9 -18, 2020. We will visit Austria and Germany, seeing sites associated with the life of Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. This is the Bavarian Alps where all the scenery reminds you of “The Sound of Music”—fairytale villages with mural-covered houses surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains.

The highlight of the trip will be the Oberammergau Passion Play, the story of the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ. First performed in 1634, it is regarded as the most important passion play in the world. It involves over 2,000 actors, singers, and musicians, all residents of the village. Half a million visitors from all over the world come to see the play during its six months of performance.

This trip is open to the entire community. Invite your friends and come to an informational meeting on Sunday, August 25, at 4 p.m. in the church library. Brochures are available in the church office or contact trip hosts Judy or Jim Buckingham at 569-6160 or with questions.
