we love because
He first loved us

1 John 4:19

After washing the disciple’s feet, Jesus tells the disciples he has set an example for them to serve others.

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. John 13:15

One of the goals of FirstNac is for every member to be in service. The service can be to the church or the community. Please consider the opportunities below if you have not already found a place to serve.

Greeters

A greeter is one of the simplest yet important positions in the church. Greeters from the church congregation are located at three entrances of the building and welcome members and guests each Sunday for both services arriving 15 minutes before the service begins. We would love for you to join us!

Welcome Center Team

Welcome Center volunteers are stationed at our new Welcome Center in the bell tower space. We are here to welcome first-time guests to our church and answer any questions they may have. Welcome Center team members are asked to be present at the Welcome Center 10 to 15 minutes before the service, and 10 minutes after. You will sign up for one or two months during the year.

Altar Guild

Teams of 4-6 members rotate every month to ensure that the chancel area of our Sanctuary and Chapel is always ready for any worship service at FirstNac. The teams also prepare for communion Sundays; break down altar flowers and deliver them to members needing cheering up; and assist as needed with other special services. We hope you will consider this an opportunity that suits your desire to help.”

EAST TEXAS FOOD BANK
Mobile Pantry

Our first Mobile Pantry was a success?
We served around 270 families!

The East Texas Food Bank staff was very complimentary of the volunteers and our organization. Thanks to all who showed up. We learned that we are going to need more volunteers than we originally thought and our schedule needs to be adjusted a little. We need 12-15 people from 2:30 - 4:00 and 15-18 people from 3:30 - 5:30.

We do not know until the truck arrives if there are items that need to be packaged. This month there was not. We are going to see if we can get a text that morning to let us know if the packaging crew is needed. If not, we will send out a text to let you know not to show up. Those who are handing out the food need to be there by 3:30 to get organized and get directions. We are asking all volunteers to please sign up so we will know if we have enough people.

We are also changing the way to sign up. We have heard you want to see who else is signed up. We will be using a Google sheet for sign-ups. Use the link below to sign up or edit your sign-up. If you have questions, please contact Le’Ann Solmonson at lsolmonson@gmail.com or 936-645-3109.

Buckley’s Free Pantry is a community project to allow people to anonymously get and give food items. It is located at the Farmer’s Market on Pearl St. You can donate items by placing them in the pantry or in the Buckley’s Pantry cart located in the hall by the choir room. Many of the people who utilize the pantry do not have access to electricity to store or cook donated items.
