Building Crew
Reports to: Senior Pastor and Office Manager
Status: Full Time
Job Summary: This position is responsible for janitorial duties for the church, including the main church building and the preschool (as needed), and for preparing the buildings for use for church activities, meetings, and other activities as directed by the Senior Pastor or Office Manager.
Job Duties:
Ensure cleanliness of church facilities, following mandated regulations and guidelines.
Receive, manage, and process work order requests, ensuring problems are solved in a timely matter.
Be available for high-volume services and special events at the church.
Assure that set up and take down for all events is accomplished in a timely manner.
Develop and ensure a facilities maintenance plan.
Coordinate with Senior Pastor or Office Manager for long term maintenance projects.
Assure that all appliances are in working order.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
The crew member primarily assigned to the main church building will be available as needed to assist or cover for the crew member primarily assigned to the church school, and vice versa.
Position Qualifications
Demonstrated skill completing minor to complex facilities repairs
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, safety and sanitation requirements of church facilities.
Self-starter with effective time and project management.
Flexibility to keep irregular hours and be available for ministry when needed.
Must physically access all work sites required for the position. May require exposure to weather and temperature extremes. Ability to work with cleaning materials, detergents, and authorized chemicals. May require exposure to heights.
Physical mobility to move form place to place on the job. Physical strength to lift 25 pounds. Ability to bend, list, stretch, climb and crawl to maintenance equipment.
Nursery Worker
Reports to: Children and Youth Minister
Status: Part Time
Job Summary: Provides for the physical, emotional and intellectual stimulation and safety of children ages 0-5 years while working in the church’s nursery. Works under the direction of the Nursery Coordinator and/or the Pastor of Family Life.

General Qualifications and Duties:
Be of good moral and Christian character.
Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
Speak in a gentle tone of voice to the children.
Stability of physical, mental, and emotional health.
Knowledge of child development stages and needs of children.
Ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities/characteristics common to children.
Active willingness to advance personal knowledge of nursery care for children.
Willingness to submit to drug screenings.
Absences will be communicated in advance to the Pastor of Family Life and the Church Office Manager.
Abides by all Safe Sanctuary policies of the First United Methodist Church, Nacogdoches.
Maintains current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR training for infants and children.
Arrives to the nursery no later than 15 minutes prior to the service for which they are scheduled. Remains in nursery until all children are secured with their parent/guardian .
Cleans and disinfects toys each Sunday (only toys played with on that Sunday) after children have left.
Maintains good hand-washing hygiene after diaper changes and after assisting children with tissues for coughs, sneezes or runny noses.
Wears latex free gloves while changing diapers, utilizes wax paper barrier and disinfects diaper changing area after each diaper change.
Engages children in organized activities while in nursery, i.e. age-appropriate songs, stories, lessons, crafts, etc.
Ensures sanitation and safety of the nursery environment, i.e. cleaning products and medications stored out of reach of children, outlet covers on electrical outlets, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
