Sowing Sacred Art: The FirstNac UMC Spring Mini Arts Fest
This spring, creativity and community unite in a vibrant way through TheFirstNac UMC Spring Mini Arts Fest, and we need you! Three unique collaborative art projects, designed by Pastor Melissa, will be visual expressions of faith crafted by those who call FirstNac UMC their church home. There are three opportunities to participate in the festival, two for youth and adults, and another just for kids. Each project is beginner-friendly—no experience necessary.
Tree of Life has been quietly revealing itself in the Narthex over the last few weeks and will continue to evolve until its completion in June. Following the "Gratitude Tree" last fall and our recent "Tree of Hope", which released over 100 paper butterflies into the Narthex on Easter morning, Tree of Life will display the gratitude leaves and butterfly hopes shared by the congregation. To help create this art piece, drop in anytime between 4-6 p.m. in the Youth Lounge on Wednesdays in April. Additionally, if your group would like to work on Tree of Life during your next meeting, please reach out to Pastor Melissa.
Chrismon Mosaic is the second collaborative project planned for the festival. This project is a “take-home assignment." Anyone who would like to participate may take advantage of “open studio time” in the Youth Lounge on Wednesdays in April or take a canvas home to complete it. The mosaic’s design is pre-drawn across 21 canvases, to be completed separately and hung together as a single dynamic piece. The canvases may be painted, collaged, decoupaged, covered with fabric, beads, yarn, rice, or anything the canvas will hold. The only instructions are to stay within the lines and use the colors noted.
Little Ones is a project just for the kids. Inspired by Jesus’ love for the “little ones” (Matt. 10:42; 18:6-10; 19:14), this piece will feature a field of painted paper flowers. The children will work on the project a bit each week during their discipleship classes on Sunday morning.
Join us in making this spring a canvas for connection and creativity, all to the glory of God, the great artist who created all things beautifully

From gratitude to hope. Our little tree is back and this time it brings us a visual representation of the FirstNac family's prayers and praises. You will find the tree in the hallway near the Family Life table with a collection of paper butterflies in all colors. Select a few, write your prayers on them and add them to our tree. Our hope is in the risen Christ. Let’s fill the tree!
