Upcoming Events
Pastor Bible Study
Bible study with the pastor will begin Wednesday, September 2 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the Parlor. Together, we will take a look at John Wesley's life and several of his sermons in Reclaiming the Wesleyan Tradition: John Wesley's Sermons for Today. During the week, there will be an average of 10 pages of reading per week along with questions in preparation for class discussion and participation. Facilitated by Pastor Stephanie.
Parent Small Group
Join us for a parent-focused discussion working through Jonathan Haidt's The Anxious Generation to understand how smartphones and social media are reshaping childhood — and what we can do about it.
Crazy Patterns Sunday
It is Crazy Patterns Sunday on August 30th. The bolder, brighter, and crazier the better! Mix and match your favorite fun patterns and prints for a Sunday full or color and smiles!
5th Sunday Church Brunch
Bring your favorite “Brunch Dish” to share with your church on Sunday, August 30 during the Sunday School hour at 10:00 am in the Family Life Center.
Adopt-A-Jack Kickoff Lunch
Families are needed! We expanded the Adopt-a-Jack program this year to include Wesley Foundation students. We can adopt Wesley students or Lumberjack basketball players. You will meet your students at a kickoff lunch on September 27th at the church. If you are interested, please contact Le’Ann Solmonson at lsolmonson@gmail.com or 936-645-3109.
Church Clean-Up Day
Join us Saturday, August 29, for our Church Clean-up Day, inside and out. We'll start at 8:00 a.m. and finish by noon, sprucing up the grounds outside while cleaning spaces like the kitchen and upstairs youth area inside. We mostly just need you — but if you have basic lawn care equipment, bring it along. We can use scoop shovels, loppers, hedge clippers, leaf blowers, leaf rakes, and bow rakes. Gloves and good humor are a great idea too!
Youth Bake Sale
Calling All Bakers! Our youth ministry is gearing up for an upcoming fundraiser, and we need your help! If you enjoy baking and would be willing to donate baked goods, we’d love to have you be a part of this special event.
Simon Peter Bible Study
An ordinary fisherman. An extraordinary call. This summer, we will explore how God works through imperfect people…just like Simon Peter…just like us.
The 6-week study will be facilitated by different leaders each week using Adam Hamilton’s book SIMON PETER: Flawed but Faithful Disciple. Beginning July 8, Wednesdays, 6 p.m., Parlor.
ICAN Sunday
The first Sunday of every month is I CAN Sunday. Please bring your non-perishable, shelf-stable items for replenishing Buckley's Pantry, HOPE, and/or SFA Food Pantry. Please leave your donations in the baskets in the hallway.
Christmas in July
As part of our monthly produce distribution, we are planning to once again give each family a Christmas meal. We have streamlined the process to make it more efficient. We will work with Aldi to order the food items in bulk rather than doing individual shopping. If you or your company is interested in being a sponsor, please contact Le'Ann Solmonson at lsolmonson@gmail.com.
